Multimodal Bioelectronic Systems for the Nervous System

Speaker: Prof. Vasiliki Giagka, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands

Abstract: Achieving precise and chronic interaction with the nervous system is a central goal of next-generation neurotechnologies. In this talk, I will present our recent work on multimodal neural interfaces that combine electrical, optical, and ultrasonic modalities to enable high-resolution neuromodulation and monitoring. I will discuss how we engineer soft, biocompatible systems that can be deployed both in vitro and in vivo, and highlight our recent innovations in the packaging of implantable integrated circuits, including conformal encapsulation strategies that enhance longevity and functional stability. These advances pave the way for robust, multimodal interfaces for therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
