Ms. Maria Magdalena Koprek
MSc Student
BIO
Maria Magdalena Koprek obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2024, where her bachelor’s thesis focused on coordination compounds of first-row transition metals with amide derivatives of pyridine. She is currently pursuing her M.Sc. in Physical and Inorganic Chemistry at the same institution.
During her studies, Magdalena attended few international programs like the Summer School Empowering a Sustainable Future with Si MOSFETs! at Infineon Technologies in Austria and a Student Excellence Day at IMEC in Leuven, Belgium, gaining insight into semiconductor technologies and sustainable electronic materials. She also spent two months at the National University of Singapore as part of the IRIS program, working on the electrical characterization of devices incorporating 2D materials. During her Master's studies, she joined the Surfaces, interfaces and 2D materials research group at the Institute of Physics in Zagreb, Croatia, where she remains actively involved in acitivities which contribute to her master's thesis.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of materials science and nanotechnology with a particular focus on 2D materials, from atomic-layer engineering to device-level applications.
In February 2026, she joined the Nanomedicine Lab as a visiting Master’s student for six months, where she is doing a research internship as a part of her master’s thesis.
