Ms. Maria Cristina Pesola
PhD Student
BIO
Maria Cristina Pesola obtained a three-year Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from University of Naples “Federico II” (UniNA), Italy, in 2022. Her project focused on the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of Carbon Dots derived from agroforestry biomass.
In 2025, she completed a Master’s degree in Chemical Sciences from UniNA, where she developed high-quality fluorescent nanomaterials through the controlled doping and self-assembly of Cerium Oxide nanoparticles. During that time, she also attended two international summer schools on Neutron Scattering experimental techniques to further broaden her expertise in Materials Science.
In March 2026, she joined the Nanomedicine Lab as a PhD Student in the Materials Science program of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Her research focuses on engineering the surface properties of Graphene Oxide (GO) nanosheet complexes and their pharmaceutical suspensions to develop innovative platforms for brain cancer treatment.
