Ahmed earned his B.Sc. in pharmacy from Alexandria University in 2012 with a GPA of 3.9 on a 4.0 scale. After graduation, he joined Codan Pvb as a product specialist where he further developed their invasive blood pressure monitoring platform (Xtrans®) so that it could not only used in intensive care units but also in the operation rooms. He later obtained an M.Sc. in bioengineering from the School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at UCD in Dublin in 2015. He then joined EPOS-IASIS (spin-off company from the University of Cyprus) as a Marie Curie researcher to develop a biomimetic tissue engineered in vitro model of mucinous ovarian adenocarcinoma as a platform to screen for effective nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems. In 2021, he completed a PhD in information and communication technologies from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in Barcelona where his research was focused on the study of intramuscular stimulation for functional movement restoration in paralysis using in vivo and computational models. Ahmed’s interests include electrical stimulation and recording, computational methods for electrophysiological data analysis as well as statistical and computational modelling.
