José and Kostas receive the 2024 City of Barcelona Award in Science and Technology

Professors José Antonio Garrido (Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices (AEMD)) and Kostas Kostarelos (Nanomedicine Lab) have received the Barcelona City Award 2024 by the Barcelona City Council in the category of ‘Experimental Sciences and Technology’, recognizing the value of our efforts in developing graphene-based brain interfaces.

There are dozens of researchers that have contributed to the development of graphene neural interface technology awarded, currently in clinical trials at NHS Salford Royal Hospital in the UK.
