Varun is a clinical neurologist and leader of the Venkataramani Lab at the University Hospital Heidelberg and the German Cancer Research Center. He visited the Nanomedicine Lab in Barcelona to deliver a seminar, titled: “Targeting the neural blueprint of brain tumors”.

Varun’s Lab has been leading efforts in the emerging research area of cancer neuroscience, with seminal papers published consistently since 2019. Recently they have demonstrated the mechanisms on how brain tumors hijack the nervous system and neural mechanisms to promote tumor growth, invasion and therapeutic resistance.

During his seminar Dr. Venkataramani explained the beginnings of Cancer Neuroscience and the potential clinical-translational implications that are developing. Varun’s seminar was co-hosted by ICN2 & the Institute of Neurosciences at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (INc-UAB).
