Congratulations to Gloria for the Plan Nacional award!
The Nanomedicine Lab has been awarded its first-ever Proyectos de Generación de Conocimiento 2024 thanks to Dr Gloria Garcia´s leadership in the development of the EGOloco project, which aims to engineer graphene oxide (GO) as a versatile platform for multi-modal modulation of host tissue microenvirnoment in aggressive cancers locoregionally.
Glòria developed and primarily wrote this proposal as her first attempt to a Spanish government national grant application. The award is also combined with a fully-funded PhD studentship that is being recruited.
The team intends to engineer the surface properties of the GO nanosheets and their complexation with bioactive molecules in order to design post-surgical resection cavity coatings, adhesion and enhanced interactions with the host tissue, to ultimately delay or prevent cancer regrowth.
