Ms. Lidiane Silva Franqui, Visiting Researcher

Lidiane received her BSc in Pharmacy from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, Federal University of Alfenas, Brazil. During her undergraduate course she was involved in two research projects: (i) the pharmacological evaluation of plant extracts in mice, and (ii) the analysis of metabolites from human biological samples by chromatography techniques. In 2011, she was selected as an intern at the Brazilian Pharmaceutical Industry Cristália, where she worked in the P&D area for one year. After, she was granted with a two-year scholarship to perform her MSc in Analytical Chemistry also at the Federal University of Alfenas. Her dissertation focused on the synthesis of polymeric materials for metabolites extraction from urine human samples and the development of analytical methods applied to toxicology. Currently, Ph.D student in Technology of Materials Science at the University of Campinas with a four year scholarship. During the first three academic years, she developed her research at the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano), on the characterization of the protein corona coated graphene oxide materials and its toxicological response in vitro. Now, in the last year, she was awarded with an international scholarship from CAPES Foundation (an agency under the Ministry of Education of Brazil) and joined the Nanomedicine Lab as a Visiting Researcher in September 2018 to study the interaction of graphene oxide materials with pulmonary surfactant and the impact of this interaction on the in vitro toxicity.
