Dr. Sarah Briston, Project Manager

Sarah obtained a BSc in Pharmacology with Industrial Experience at the University of Manchester, with a year spent performing research in the Cardiovascular Department at Boehringer Ingelheim in Germany. She then completed a PhD at Manchester funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC). Her research was based upon examining calcium channel and transporter expression in human stem cells with respect to the generation of insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells. Sarah then moved to the Cardiac Physiology group to undertake several post-doctoral positions with Prof Andrew Trafford and Prof David Eisner. Her work involved identifying the molecular and electrophysiological properties of the heart and how these are affected by disease processes such as heart failure. Other projects involved understanding the mechanisms of arrhythmia generation. Sarah joined the Nanomedicine lab in October 2019 as Project Manager of the 2D-Health programme grant.
