Mr. Leon Newman, PhD Student
Leon obtained his MPharm (First class) degree at King’s College London in 2011. He was awarded a King’s College London scholarship award for exceptional academic results. He was also awarded the departmental prize for the best final year research project. He went on to complete his pre-registration pharmacy training in a community pharmacy in Bristol. He returned to London and joined the Nanomedicine Lab to pursue an MRes degree at UCL School of Pharmacy for which he was awarded a full UCL scholarship. During the MRes he used liposomal technologies to deliver small RNA molecules into cancer cell lines and graduated in September 2013 with Distinction. In September 2013 he embarked on a 4-year PhD studentship as part of the NOWNano Doctoral Training Centre at the University of Manchester focusing on the degradation of carbon and graphene-based nanostructures.
