Ms. Isabelle Aldred, Visiting MRes (intercalating) Medical Student
Isabelle has completed four years of her medical degree at The University of Liverpool and is currently intercalating at The University of Manchester. Isabelle joined the nano medicine lab in January 2017 for a 6 month project in the attainment of her MRes in Tissue Engineering for Regenerative Medicine. Currently, she is partaking in a project focusing on liposomal administration in different stroke models. She has been involved in a diverse range of research projects throughout her medical studies; at the 2016 Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), she was invited to present her work entitled: To what extent did peer review scoring reflect on patient outcomes in paediatric diabetes units throughout England. Most significantly, her previous laboratory experience includes an elective project at the University of Cambridge, for which she won The Baker Bates prize from The University of Liverpool. This project was related to the optimisation of photodynamic therapy for the treatment of malignancy in vitro. Areas of particular interest are regenerative medicine with potential directions for surgical translational, with the aim to pursue the clinical academic pathway.
