People | Mr. Markus Martincic
Markus obtained his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Zagreb, Croatia (2010). For the next two years he worked in an analytical laboratory at Pliva Pharmaceuticals and completed his M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Zagreb, Croatia (2012) in bioinorganic chemistry that included insulin derivatives and their crystal structures. From 2012 he joined the group of Dr Gerard Tobias as an early-stage Marie-Curie researcher within the European project RADDEL. He is currently in the last year of his PhD in the Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona, Spain. His work is based on the encapsulation of inorganic payloads in carbon nanotubes with potential diagnostic and therapeutic applications. He joined the Nanomedicine Lab in April 2015 as part of his network secondments and is currently working on the in vitro effects of functionalized and radionuclide filled carbon nanotubes against human cancer cells.
